US City Regulations/Local Ordinance
for Grease Interceptors

Navigating city water regulations and codes can be daunting. Here are tips to streamline your search:

  • Look for mentions of "Grease Removal Units," "AGRU/AGRD", or "Hydromechanical grease interceptors" in your city's codes. Grease Guardian devices align with these specifications.

  • If your city mandates long retention or detention times for grease interceptors, consider that Grease Guardian units may be smaller than what's required. However, many cities offer variances for space-constrained environments with low grease production. Request a variance from your plan reviewer to use Grease Guardian.

  • Some local codes may stipulate pumping before grease and solids reach a certain threshold of the liquid volume. (25%) Grease Guardian offers dosing units with inspection windows, allowing you to monitor grease levels. Again, if space or grease production is limited, inquire about a variance to use Grease Guardian from your plan reviewer.

  • Check for references to ASME and PDI certifications. Grease Guardian units hold certifications from both organizations.
